OER Strategies to Enhance Networking and Collaborative Opportunities by Dr…SNDTWU
This document discusses strategies to enhance networking and collaboration opportunities around open educational resources (OER). It defines OER as teaching and learning materials that are freely available online for anyone to use. The document then provides examples of Asian and Indian initiatives that create and share OER, including open courseware projects. It suggests strategies like exploring existing OER repositories, collaborating on content creation, curating OER collections, sharing one's work, and joining organizations like WikiEducator to further networking and collaboration opportunities around OER.
The document summarizes the Center of ICT and Distance Education (CODE) at the Open University of Japan. CODE facilitates the use of ICT in higher education and international collaboration. It supports open education, open educational resources, and works on initiatives like the Global Learning Object Brokered Exchange and a cross-institutional search system to connect learning objects worldwide. CODE aims to develop new services to support lifelong learners through open, personalized, and localized access to high-quality educational resources.

Open Educational Resources:Strategies to enhance Networking and Collaborative...Ramesh C. Sharma
what are open educational resources, OER initiatives in Asian countries and in India. How WikiEducator can be used to create OERs, WikiEducator India chapter, WikiEducator UPE winners
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are freely available online for anyone to use. OERs can include full courses, textbooks, videos, and other materials. They provide 5 key permissions: to retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute the content. Using OER can substantially reduce education costs while improving quality and empowering teachers and students. Several initiatives in India promote OER, including the Digital Library of India, National Digital Library, Shodhganga, NPTEL, and resources from NCERT, NIOS, and Agropedia. OER allow for innovative teaching practices and provide students open access to additional educational materials.
The document discusses Korea's digital textbook project which aims to improve access to education and learning quality through technology. It defines a digital textbook, outlines the project's pilot implementation and challenges. The project will develop 25 digital textbook titles by 2011 and equip 100 schools for testing. Key challenges include reducing infrastructure costs, proving academic benefits, ensuring quality assurance, and developing effective instructional models and content for the new platform.

Open Educational Resources: Development and Challenges for IndiaRamesh C. Sharma
This presentation discusses the Indian initiatives to the development of OERs in India and the challenges therein. WikiEducator India is also discussed.
The document discusses institutional repositories and their role in managing and disseminating digital materials created by academic institutions and their communities. It provides definitions of institutional repositories by Clifford Lynch, describing them as services offered by universities to manage and distribute digital materials created by the institution and its members with a commitment to long-term preservation. Institutional repositories are centered around academic institutions and contain scholarly works of varying degrees produced by that institution. They aim to maximize access to and preservation of an institution's research outputs.
Technological and pedagogical issues surrounding mass production of elearningChristopher Peat
The document discusses the technological and pedagogical issues surrounding the mass production of multimedia learning content. It addresses challenges such as adhering to educational principles, conforming to technology standards, ensuring affordability and accessibility. The document also presents a case study of a project that developed learning objects from classroom materials to retain the original pedagogical approach at a low cost. Stakeholders including academics and learning technologists collaborated to capture classroom interactions and package them into reusable learning objects using open source tools.
Seminar on excellence in ict enhanced higher education sequent2014Ebba Ossiannilsson
This document discusses open educational resources (OERs) and quality in OER. It defines OERs as educational materials that are in the public domain or introduced with an open license, allowing anyone to legally and freely copy, use, adapt and re-share them. Quality in OER is seen as an ongoing process involving self-assessment, community feedback and review. Key factors in evaluating OER quality include accuracy, reputation of authors, technical and accessibility standards, fitness for purpose, and trust. Ensuring openness, learner-centeredness, and independent learning are also important aspects of quality.
A crash course on open educational resources which covers the 4 'R's of Openness, access based on ALMS analysis, sustainability models and copyright. It further discusses the current state of OER in Asia. The last part provides a case study for reuse of OER in ODL courses.
1) The National Institute of Multimedia Education in Japan developed NIME-glad as a national portal for sharing digital learning resources between Japanese universities.
2) NIME-glad later merged with the Open University of Japan while maintaining its support functions for all Japanese universities.
3) NIME-glad aims to establish a globally interoperable infrastructure for sharing educational resources through initiatives like the Global Learning Object Brokered Exchange (GLOBE) project.
This document discusses openness in open and distance learning (ODL) systems with a special focus on open educational resources (OERs) and massive open online courses (MOOCs). It defines key terms like OERs, MOOCs, and open licenses. It outlines benefits of OERs like increased access, affordability, and customizability. The document also examines how open universities can generate additional resources through MOOCs while addressing challenges like lack of star professors and ensuring student-teacher interaction. It proposes a theoretical approach for open universities to run MOOCs, including developing OER policies, adapting resources to local contexts, and creating a consortium platform based on openness principles.
The document discusses various Open Educational Resource (OER) initiatives in India. It provides background on the history and definition of OERs, highlighting their importance for improving access to education. It then outlines several major Indian government programs and projects focused on developing and sharing OERs, including the National Digital Library of India, NPTEL, e-PG Pathshala, the Consortium for Educational Communication, and SWAYAM. The initiatives aim to widen access to educational content through open licensing and various digital platforms providing open courseware, e-books, video lectures, and other learning materials.

• Setting up Learning Activity-based Clubs and organizing Learning Activities is
a mandate of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020)
Cl. No. 12.3 of NEP-2020:
“All HEIs will have opportunities and mechanisms to facilitate topic-centred clubs
and activities organized by students with the help of faculty and another
expert as needed, such as clubs and events dedicated to science, mathematics,
poetry, language, literature, debate, music, sports, etc.”
Cl. No. 4.44 of NEP-2020:
“Topic-centered and project clubs will be encouraged and supported at the levels
of schools, school complexes, districts and beyond. Examples include Science
Circles, Math Circles, Music & Dance Circles, Poetry Circles, Debate Circles”
• NDLI is providing a platform and is doing an initial hand-holding so that
institutes can fulfil the NEP 2020 mandate.
