This document discusses the importance of doing work that you love and believe is great. It includes a quote from Steve Jobs about finding truly satisfying work by doing what you believe is great work and loving what you do. The rest of the document provides examples of challenges, questions, and discussions that commonly come up for designers in their work.
The document outlines the eight distinctions of a world-class presenter: 1) Get to the point quickly without dramatic distractions. 2) Avoid rambling and keep content concise using less words. 3) Present to persuade by causing changes in mindset, feelings, and behaviors of the audience. 4) Connect with the audience before influencing them by establishing common ground. 5) Sell the "why" of the message before the "what" and "how". 6) Use stories and vivid language to paint pictures in the minds of the audience. 7) Treat the audience as king by helping solve their problems and leaving them better than before. 8) Be authentic rather than polished.
Inspired Storytelling: Engaging People & Moving Them To ActionKelsey Ruger

In this workshop, you will learn how to use that connection, by teaching basic skills in visual thinking and storytelling that will that transform projects and initiate action.

If you are like many people, even the thought of delivering a speech in front of an audience will get your palms sweating. The fear of public speaking ranks high among the most common phobias, and for good reason: most of us approach the situation with the wrong mindset, which in turn makes us live out our worst fears in a public forum.
As Michael Parker notes in IT’S NOT WHAT YOU SAY: How to Sell Your Message When It Matters Most (A TarcherPerigee paperback; on sale January 2016), our fixation on the content of our words – and not the presentation of ourselves – is what brings us down. Once the Vice-Chairman of London’s Saatchi & Saatchi, and one of the world’s most experienced advertising pitch men, having made more than 1,000 pitches in his successful career, Parker has learned first-hand that an effective presentation, a job interview, or even a speech at a wedding hinges on our ability to portray ourselves as passionate, relatable, and collected. But, if we are focused on what we say, and not how we act, we will fail to persuade our audience.
Applied in the boardroom, at the pulpit, or even in conversation, these tenets will help you present better in any situation.

The State of Sales & Marketing at the 50 Fastest-Growing B2B CompaniesMattermark
There’s a lot of information out there for sales and marketing professionals. In fact, as our friend Erik Devaney at Drift.com points out, a quick search of the term “sales and marketing advice” yields more than 90 million results on Google.
What’s more, there are tons of industry influencers who, on a regular basis, share their views on everything from content marketing and sales, to pricing and customer success. It’s a noisy conversation, and for many, a confusing one.
So, how do you make sense of it all?
By focusing on the sales and marketing efforts that actually produce results, not flash-in-the-pan engagement. But finding those results is a little challenging. That’s why we decided to put together our latest report with Drift.com, The State of Sales and Marketing at the 50 Fastest-Growing B2B Companies.
Using Mattermark data, we were able to identify the fifty high-growth companies in the U.S. and evaluate their marketing activities to understand which practices really moved the needle. In order to make the qualitative portion of our research more tangible, we evaluated each company on the list in light of how they approached content, customer communication, path to purchase, and pricing.
What we and the team at Drift.com discovered was surprising, to say the least.

Things That Don't Matter in Your Presentation!Ayman Sadiq
We often spend hours together on stuffs that don’t really matter in your next presentation. You need to unclutter, focus, provide insight and yes, tell a story to convey the big idea. When you stop wasting time on the things that don’t really add any value to you presentation, we finally start adding proper value to the message and objective of your presentation. So here goes a list of things on which you should not even spend a minute. Cheers!
We have been using storytelling to share our thoughts and feelings ever since flat screen televisions meant clay tablets and cave walls. Stories move us; they inspire us. And that is why your 110th presentation should not just include data. Because data might persuade people to consider your idea for a while, but it won’t inspire them to act; to do that, you need to drape your vision in a story that makes your audience think: “Hey! I can picture myself in his shoes!” Your story should fire their imagination and make them come alive- because a story has a key to that special place where mundane quantitative data is denied entry: our hearts.

Fight for Yourself: How to Sell Your Ideas and Crush PresentationsDigital Surgeons
Don't let your blood, sweat, and pixels be overlooked, great creative doesn't sell itself.
Every presentation is a story, an opportunity to sell not just your work, but what people actually buy — YOU.
This presentation will walk viewers through three core aspects of winning at any presentation, Confidence, Comprehension, and Conviction.
These concepts, central to your work as a creative professional, are backed by science and bolstered by thoughts from some of the world’s leading creative professionals.
Screw You Bullet Points! [Rest in Peace]Ayman Sadiq
Even when you are preparing a slide and filling it with bullet-points, you know you are being a lazy-ass. Because, let’s face it, there’s just so much more that you could use in lieu of a ton of bullet points (I mean literally ‘a ton’, they’re all over the place!). Half of the audience won’t even be listening to what you have got to say and will simply read the points (completely ignoring your words in the process). If you don’t want your audience to tune out of your presentation and label you as ‘BORING’, play around a bit with cool info-graphics, icons and illustrations and make them go: ‘Whoa!’
- Presentations should use images to illustrate ideas since images are processed thousands of times faster than text.
- When making slides, only use one image per slide to illustrate the main idea. Align images and keep bullet points to a minimum.
- Data and figures should be visualized through graphs instead of just listing numbers. Stick to a consistent brand style and colors instead of mixing different styles. Keep designs simple with one idea per slide and one illustrative image.

This document summarizes the key points from Carmine Gallo's book "The Storyteller's Secret". It discusses how storytelling can be used to inspire others and influence hearts and minds. Great stories follow a three-act structure similar to popular movies. Mastering storytelling delivery requires practice, using illustrations, and unleashing the stories of others. Overall, the document advocates that sharing inspiring stories can change the world.

This document reviews the presentation creation software called Prezentar. It summarizes that Prezentar allows users to create professional presentations and instantly convert them to videos using templates. It has 50 templates, 500 slide layouts, and a large media library. The review finds that Prezentar is very easy to use and can create high quality presentations and videos much faster than other tools like PowerPoint. There are some additional upgrades available but the basic version of Prezentar provides good value for its low price. Overall the review concludes that Prezentar is a powerful tool for marketers and business owners to create engaging presentations and videos with minimal effort.
Chadani Pandey discusses overcoming the fear of public speaking. While stage fright feels intense, audiences typically do not notice signs of nerves. Like other skills, public speaking improves with practice and feedback.
The document also provides tips for using visual aids effectively during presentations. Flipcharts work well for smaller audiences and allow notes to be added during the talk. Computer programs like PowerPoint are now commonly used with projectors for larger groups. Key advice includes keeping visuals simple, colorful, and justified by the content rather than distracting from the speaker. Above all, presenters should control the technology rather than letting it control the presentation.
This document advertises Prezentar presentation software. It touts its ability to quickly create professional presentations, videos, and eBooks from templates for courses, webinars, meetings, and more. It claims Prezentar removes the hassle of creating presentations from scratch and allows users to select a template, customize it, and share it in minutes. The document emphasizes Prezentar's ease of use and large library of templates, images, and features to engage audiences. It also includes a limited time discount offer of $97, down from the regular $197 price.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to deliver a talk at Shift in Split, Croatia.
Shift is a developer conference, so initially, I thought it would be entertaining to talk about what it’s like to work with an engineer, from a designers perspective. The working title of the talk was Things Engineers Hate About Working With (Me) a Designer.
I was going to share the mistakes I’ve made, and learned from, along the way. A manifesto of what not to do when working with an engineer. However, feedback included phrases like “it’s a bit tongue & cheek” and the best talks are ones that are “raw, honest and vulnerable.”
You don’t write code, but you’ve been successful in spite of it. The lines are blurring between design & engineering. Why not talk about how tools have helped bridge that gap?
There was something more interesting to talk about. I realized that I didn’t write code because I didn’t need to. For years I’d been spoiled, and to some extent enabled, by a handful of incredibly talented iOS engineers. The realization didn’t sit well with me.
I scrapped everything and went back to the drawing board.
Tools were my first introduction to a hobby that turned into a passion that has become an obsession
They have been steadily influencing and shaping me as a designer from the first time I sat in front of a computer in elementary school. I would not realize how much they’d impact my life until much much later.
Tools have had a massive influence on me and my work, but had they on others?

This document provides tips for creating effective presentations. It discusses the importance of simplicity in design through limiting text, using images to support key points, and focusing on one main idea per slide. Preparation is key, including practicing aloud and getting feedback. When presenting, speak conversationally rather than reading slides, maintain eye contact with the audience, and get them involved through questions. The overall message is that with practice and following design principles of simplicity, presentations can be engaging rather than "Death by PowerPoint."

Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation software included in the Microsoft Office suite that allows users to create slideshows, graphics, videos, and other visual content. It provides tools for outlining, drawing, graphing, and other features to make professional presentations on a variety of topics. PowerPoint can be used for business presentations, lectures, tutorials, infographics, resumes, photo slideshows, and more. It allows presenters to convey information visually through images and animations rather than solely relying on verbal descriptions.
This document provides tips for creating effective PowerPoint presentations. It discusses engaging the audience by focusing on the key message at the beginning and end. Slides should use bullet points and short phrases rather than full sentences. Font styles and sizes should be limited for readability. Videos and images can enhance the message but should not distract. Rehearsal is important to test timing and technology in the actual venue. The presenter should practice public speaking skills without relying on slides and use slides sparingly to highlight key points.
We used various media technologies throughout the construction, research, planning, and evaluation stages of our documentary. For research and planning, we used blogs to document our work, YouTube to watch inspirational documentaries, and Wikipedia for facts and statistics. In construction, we used iMovie to edit our documentary, a Canon camera to record footage, and GarageBand to record voiceovers. For ancillaries, we utilized composition and Photoshop to manipulate images, and InDesign for page layout and graphics.
PowerPoint is a presentation software that allows users to create, edit, view, present, and share presentations easily. It is commonly used by organizations like religious groups, businesses, and schools to convey visual information to audiences. PowerPoint was originally designed to make it easier to prepare overhead projector transparencies without manually retyping them. While it helps present complex topics, some disadvantages are that it can reduce topics to simple bullet points that lack depth. There are different types of presentations like informative, instructional, persuasive, and decision-making. PowerPoint offers tools for text, graphics, charts, and presentation management. Businesses find it useful for housing and presenting information to audiences on screen. Effective presentations engage audiences, focus
1. yes the SmartArt tool is certainly an option that you can use t.docxjeremylockett77
1. yes the SmartArt tool is certainly an option that you can use to your advantage. Be advised that customizing SmartArt can be a challenge for the new PowerPoint user. Did you find that the graphic diagrams worked well initially or required some additional modifications?
2. Great post! I also utilized the Smartart/ Wordart feature on powerpoint. It helped my slogan pop out of my presentation and gave the audience something to remember about my product. I agree, it helps make the presentation visually appealing which is an important aspect to all professional presentations, especially those targeted to an audience. It captures attention which should be given to the important points which wont be done if the information is presented in plain text. Although,I do think too much WordArt can make the presentation look tacky, so on that note, I like to keep it for the most important factors!
3. i think its very important to make sure that there is a flow in you presentation. that it must look appealing and catch the readers attention. To much going on in a slide will not deliver your message in a professional way. when i didn't my presentation, i believe in the term "less is more". Even though i did put images, shapes, colors, etc. i made sure to blend them well enough to look presentable and still believer the message.
4. Powerpoint is an important tool when it comes to making a presentation to captivate your audience. Personally, I would say an essential for a professional layout would be to keep pictures on one side of the slide and words on the other. This option can be found under the "Slides" option and you can select the slide that offers two columns of information except one. In one column there would be a picture and in the other there would be words. For example, I used the technique in my Unit 2 assignment. I had my product picture on one side and a description of it on the side. In that manner, I was able to showcase my product and its features without there being too many pictures and words crowded on screen. This kept everything organized so if someone were to come across it, there would know what its for and what its about.
Another tool I use is Word Art for slogans that are important to the product or service I am showcasing to an audience. That keeps that attend to what the product is and about; also it keeps the audience engaged on your presentation and gives them something catchy to leave with. I utilized this tool in my assignment as well to make the slogan of my product pop.
5. I think the most essential and proffesional layout for Microsoft PowerPoint is the use of pictures and smart art. It catches the viewers attention and keeps them interested while listening to the presentation and also looking at the pictures of what the presentation is based on. The presentation may be boring but by using pictures and smart art it keeps the audience interested and connected to the slideshow. Yes I used pictures in my ...
Media technology played an essential role in the production of the student's media products and blog evaluation. Various software programs were used at different stages of the project, including Blogger for sharing progress, Emaze and Prezi for creative presentations, PowerPoint for adding formality, and Publisher and Photoshop for designing the digipak. YouTube helped present ideas and research, and Adobe Elements was used to edit the music video. An iPhone and camcorder captured footage and photos used in the video and digipaks. All the technologies were important as they each provided merits to help present, develop, and improve the student's work.
Gliffy, Premier Pro, PowerPoint/Slideshare, Animoto, and a Sony handy camera were used to construct the product. Gliffy allowed for spreading ideas out in a clear flowchart, Premier Pro was effective for video editing due to previous experience, PowerPoint and Slideshare created an easy to read presentation, Animoto portrayed ideas in a unique way, and the Sony camera was easy to use and helped filming skills progress.

Joskus kuulee sanottavan, että parhaat presentaatiot pidetään ilman esitysdioja. Minä väitän ettei pidetä. Se johtuu juuri siitä, että näköaistilla on niin uskomaton vaikutus muistamiseen.
What do they think of us? A homage to Finland on its 96th independence day.Havain

stackconf 2024 | Rethinking Package Management in Kubernetes with Helm and Gl...NETWAYS
Package Management on Kubernetes is one of the most pressing issues in the Cloud Native community. A concept which is widely known from other ecosystems like desktop and mobile computing has not yet been realized for cloud computing. In order to solve this issue, we released our Open Source, Apache 2.0 licensed, package manager Glasskube in the beginning of 2024. Glasskube has already more than 600 stars and is part of the CNCF landscape. In this session, we will learn about the different possibilities for deploying cloud-native applications into a Kubernetes cluster and its configuration options, dependency management, upgrade possibilities, and backups. We will take a look at the inner workings of Helm from both a distributor and user perspective. How can a distributor create a package and distribute it, and how can a user install and use the packages? In addition to Helm, we will provide a brief overview of Timoni, which uses OCI images as package bundles, and compare the advantages and challenges of this approach. We will also introduce https://glasskube.dev – that is designed as a cloud-native application itself and features real dependency management, ArgoCD integration, unified updates, and a GUI. During a live demo we will try out Glasskube and explore the possibilities of using Glasskube in combination with Argo CD and also showcase the possibility to use Apples pkl configuration language to create and maintain type-safe Glasskube packages.
stackconf 2024 | Talos Linux One (Immutable) OS to Rule Them All by Pip Oomen...NETWAYS
Talos Linux is Linux designed for Kubernetes – secure, immutable, and minimal. It is based on a hardened kernel and a minimal user space, ie. no SSH, shell or console. All system management is done via a gRPC API. In this presentation the audience will be introduced to Talos Linux and be shown how to get a full-blown Kubernetes cluster up and running within minutes on a Cloud Platform, as well as on a developer workstation.
stackconf 2024 | Ignite DevOps Driving School – Explaining DevOps in 5 Minute...NETWAYS
DevOps is not a title, not a box to buy, nor a software to install – how can you explain DevOps in 5 minutes, e.g. as an elevator pitch riding up to the top floor with your boss?
DevOps is like a driving license for running code in production.

10. For slides I use KEYNOTE.
But even when I use slides, I will
usually BLACKEN THE SCREEN

12. Your best presentation tool is
YOUR POINT.
Knowing your point (what you
need your specific audience
to know/do/be) drives all
other decisions.
- Stephanie Evergreen
14. PowerPoint is a sign of the quality
of your presentation – it can be
powerful if used correctly.
My tools are a combination of
voice, sound, video, lighting etc.
MY FAVORITE PROPS ARE THE
PHOTOS THAT I’VE TAKEN
MYSELF.
- Petri Rajaniemi
16. I usually start my presentations by
drawing MIND MAPS. I might use a
software for that but doodling on
paper works fine, too.
I also use a DIGITAL NOTEBOOK
for all the loose ideas, links and
sketches throughout the process.
- Outi Lammi
22. My favorite partner tool to PowerPoint is
GOOGLE SLIDES.
It is a phenomenal tool for translating
brain-stormed content to slides. I can
quickly access it from anywhere to
capture ideas on the fly and collaborate
with my team prior to porting it into
PowerPoint for design work and polish.
- Lea Pica
24. CANVA is an online tool that makes
graphic design really easy. It has a
great number of pre-designed
templates for presentation which you
can quickly edit.
In short, you can quickly create
good-looking presentation slides
without being a designer.
